If you're like me, you know that you need to take vitamins and supplements but never understood why. I mean, c'mon, can't I just eat my food to get what I need? Unfortunately, no. It's been said that to get the amount of vitamins and minerals you need from food, a person has to eat at least 5,000+ calories PER DAY!
One supplement that sticks out to me is Omega-3 essential fatty acids. These are the fatty acids we get from fish oils like those found in tuna and salmon. Problem is, I don't want to eat fish twice a week. It's stinky to cook at home (or bring home from the restaurant), can be pricey depending on where you go, and certain fish can be dangerous if not cooked properly. Not to mention the fact that many people have fish allergies or have to limit their intake due to pregnancy (women that is). But this is a very important supplement that helps in so many ways.
According to the University of Maryland Medical Center's website "Research shows that omega-3 fatty acids reduce inflammation and may help lower risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and arthritis. Omega-3 fatty acids are highly concentrated in the brain and appear to be important for cognitive (brain memory and performance) and behavioral function. In fact, infants who do not get enough omega-3 fatty acids from their mothers during pregnancy are at risk for developing vision and nerve problems. Symptoms of omega-3 fatty acid deficiency include fatigue, poor memory, dry skin, heart problems, mood swings or depression, and poor circulation."
Think about it. One supplement that can help in so many ways! Love it and need it! But, I want something simple, like a pill that I don't have to think about. It also has to be safe. I don't like worrying about if there's too much mercury or if someone has a shellfish allergy. Luckily for me, Arbonne has such a supplement. It's their new Omega-3 Plus Dietary Supplement that is VEGAN safe. It's made from plant, grain and fruit fatty acids - so there's no worry about side effects or that fishy taste from fish oils.
